Jonah in the Whale/Fish

We went through Jonah 3 today. You can’t ignore God’s calling and, in fact, it might turn out better than you think. Jonah didn’t want to go to Nineveh but when he did, they repented. In Jonah it is written that he was swallowed by a fish but when Jesus references the event in Matthew 12:39-41 he refers to it as a whale. I checked the translation and the Greek word “ketos” which means “large sea creature” was used to translate from the Hebrew word “hahg” which means “huge fish.” The Hebrew and Greek scholar, Jack Lewis, concluded that both dahg and ketos designated a sea creature of undefined species.
