Romans 9:13-25 today. Paul tells the Jews they aren’t automatically saved because they are Jews. Paul quotes Isaiah, “Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.” Possibly to head off any argument about there being no point in behaving in any particular way if God has preordained our future, Paul explains that humans and human logic cannot understand what God is doing. It supports my observation that we can’t know anything - We see that if we drop something it falls to earth and we make up a scientific law that a larger mass will attract a smaller mass and then decide we understand but we have no idea why anything attracts anything. You can exam an action down to its electrons and name its “intrinsic” spin and electric charge but we have no idea why it even exists. All we can do is observe and believe.
