We studied Mark, Chapter 6 today wherein Christ says, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and his own home.” We talked about that observation being true today and agreed that the people that really know us would have a hard time accepting any of us as a messenger from God let alone as his son. We also talked about the apostles who went two by two without money, food, or extra clothing to preach in other villages. We wondered if we could do it and Roy Paget, who has some experience traveling in foreign countries, felt that it would be easier to do in some of the remote areas of the world than in an American suburb. We also had an interesting discussion about the use of anointing oil. In essence, when someone consecrates and sanctifies something with oil, they set it apart for God’s use but does this apply to kings being anointed with oil? We will talk more about this next week.
