In Mark 7:15 Jesus said “Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” Also in Mark 7:19 He said “For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (NIV version adds: In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
The message is that washing your hands is a good idea but don’t let rules and traditions made by humans cause you to condemn other Christians and, as Mike Witzig said, "Just following traditions won’t save you."
