We finished this year’s study of Mark. At the end of Chapter 16 (16:17-18) it is reported that Jesus told the disciples that those who they saved could be identified by their ability to pick up snakes and drink poison unharmed and make the sick well and drive out demons. Yet, while our group is convinced that we are all believers and saved, we can’t do these miracles.
Some thought that such signs are no longer necessary, others that perhaps we can do these things but they take time and don’t happen immediately. There is also the possibility the Jesus only predicted these things for the disciples themselves. This prediction only appears in Mark. We continue to study it even though we are now moving on to Hebrews.
