The Resurrection

I have wondered if, when Christians die, do they go to heaven immediately or do they have to wait for the resurrection at the end of times. Our group discussion ranged from a firm belief that we go to heaven immediately to we can’t know but Don Frintz pointed out (John 3:3) Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Also, in (John 3:5) Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 

So while John 6:40 says “…and I will raise him up on the last day.” and in John 11:24-25 Christ says “… believe in me and never die.” There is no conflict; my confusion is unwarranted because the body and the spirit are different and the spirit of those who believe in Christ goes immediately to heaven.
