HEBREWS 7

While Hebrews is a message to converted Jews, and much of it seems obvious to those of us who believe, Chapter 7 especially demonstrates why the Jewish leaders of the day opposed Christianity so vigorously - Jesus is now the High Priest and he isn’t from the tribe of Levi. Aaron was from the tribe of Levi; the tribe of all the Priests by birth right. He was, in effect, eliminating the Levi monopoly on the Priesthood and further, in verse 27, he eliminated the need for daily sacrifices; he sacrificed himself for all time.
