What does John 16:10 mean? "...about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer."
Concerning the Holy Spirit, 16:8 Reads, "And when He comes, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment..." Chapter 16 also goes on to comment on each of the areas were the world is wrong: sin, righteousness, and judgement. It is clear what is said about sin and judgement but righteousness is harder to understand.
It can be said; however, that by his return to the father, his righteousness is proved. He had been accused of being in league with Beelzebub and of being a deceiver but once he was crucified and risen, he was proved to be righteous and they could not find his body - he was seen no longer. Then the Holy Spirit can come and "convict" non-believers based on that evidence. The Holy Spirit doesn't judge, he points out the truth.

The Bible Knowledge Commentary (Walvoord and Zuck) comments on John 16:10 as follows: In crucifying Jesus the Jewish people showed that they thought He was unrighteous, that only a wicked person would be hanged on a tree and thus be under God's curse. But the resurrection and the ascension vindicated Jesus as God's righteous Servant (Acts 3:14-15; Isa. 53:11). The Spirit convicts men of their faulty views of Jesus when the gospel with its stress on the resurrection is proclaimed (I Cor. 15:3-4).
