Daniel 8: The Ram & the Goat

Daniel's vision, some of which even he didn't understand, details the kingdoms that will come to pass. In Daniel 8:5, the prominent horn on the goat (the Leopard in Daniel 7:6) represents Alexander the Great who overran much of the world in just twelve years. We discussed how it is that God allows evil men to rule; after all, God decides who will be King (Romans 13:1) but perhaps people get what they deserve just as America may be going through difficult times because we have lost our Christian focus. One of our members observed that difficult times cause a rebirth of faith. I used to pray very privately in response to Matthew 6:5 but now I make a greater show of it, in restaurants particularly, not to demonstrate that I am a good Christian but to let people know I am a Christian and willing to tell the world I am a Christian however unpopular my faith may have become.
