God had Hosea marry Gomer, a woman who was an adulteress that gave him two illegitimate children and yet Hosea forgave her and helped her. It is an analogy for God forgiving the adulteries of Israel. Israel believed in God and wandered into worshipping false gods - a kind of celestial or spiritual adultery. Hosea demonstrates the almost unbelievable willingness of God to forgive the worst of sins and, lucky for us, over 800 years later, Romans 3:23-24 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
