A Profit Without Honor & The Death of John the Baptist

To try to understand Mark 6: 1-6 better we also reviewed Luke 4: 1-6 and Matthew 13: 53-57. Luke was more detailed about the event that made Christ observe that a profit has honor except in his own town but the message is still the same.

We also studied Mark 6: 14-29 which describes the beheading of John the Baptist. Herod didn’t want to kill John but his wife tricked him into doing it and yet, later, Herod was sure that Jesus was John reincarnated -  his conscience haunted him. What is the message of this event? Perhaps that evil (Herodias) can cause people (Herod) to do things they don’t really want to do. Herodias didn’t have the authority to kill John but her husband did; so evil used someone else to accomplish their objective.
