Jesus comes upon nine of his disciples arguing with some teachers of the Law over the cure of a possessed boy.
Who was Jesus addressing when he said “You unbelieving generation, how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.” Was he talking to the disciples who's faith was insufficient to exorcise the demon, to the teachers of the Law who where opposed to Jesus, or just to the crowd?
The father of the boy asked Jesus to help “if you can do anything” and Jesus said, “If you can?” and tells the father, “Everything is possible for one who believes.” And the father says, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief? - a plea that many including myself, identify with. So it would seem that he was talking to the boys father but surly the message wasn’t lost on the Teachers. The message, I think, was for everyone.
