James and John asked (or in Matthew, their mother asked) to sit at Jesus' right and left in heaven. As Bartt Stevens pointed out, they were still thinking in terms of rank; a world view. Jesus reminds them that even he didn’t come to rule over people as the Gentile leaders do... and I think it could be said in 2021 that they continue to do to this day. Once again Jesus urged us to serve others.
We closed with prayers including a prayer for our country.
