We discussed the fact that those who are saved, which the members of our group consider themselves, continue to sin. From scripture it is no surprise:
Luke 18:19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone."
and even Paul said:
Romans 7:15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
I seems clear that if you are saved you will go to heaven even if you continue to sin. Our group has been of the opinion that the difference between those saved sinning and those not saved sinning is that once you are saved you immediately repent every sin. Some of us even believe that though you are saved, when you sin you pay a price and the price is things don’t go well for you. For example, as long as I keep in mind that any success I have is from God, things go smoothly but when I start to imagine that my gain is do to my being clever, things don't go so well. I don't believe God makes things go bad for you it is just that your assumptions about how things work is wrong and in any system, when you go off the rails things don't happen like they are supposed to - errors cascade. Outside opinions on this would be welcome.
