Discussion: Did Jesus’ mother Mary know he could do miracles when she asked him to turn water into wine? The majority of our group felt he might have done things well in the past but had never done miracles before converting the water in to wine. Some in the group felt that, since she just assumes he’ll take care of the problem, she knew he could do miracles. Further, the angel Gabriel had told her he was the Son of God.
It was also observed that, because the wine Jesus made was so much better than the best wine the host could provide, it recalls his discussion with the Samaritan woman at the well when he says “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” - John 4:10
