Isaiah 9:6 and John 13

With Christmas coming we discussed Isaiah 9:6 which described the coming of Jesus 740 years before it happened. It describes Jesus in detail and says, among other things, "... and the government will be upon his shoulders." Actually some of this may have lead the Jews to think that Jesus would come as a concurring hero, which misconception perhaps caused many to not recognize him even after carefully reciting his coming and description for hundreds of years.

We also pursued our regular lesson, John 13 this week, and wondered if Jesus had washed Judas' feet. In John 13:2 it says the meal was in progress and the devil had already prompted Judas to betray Jesus, yet later in 13:26 it says Jesus dipped a piece of bread in a dish and gave it to Judas (to identify him as the one who would betray him) and as soon as he did this, Satan entered Judas and he left. It would seem that Jesus washed the disciples feet after dinner and, if so, Judas had already left.
