As we read John 19 we see that Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took custody of Christs body, prepared him for burial, and placed him in a tomb. This was done at great risk as Joseph, obviously a man of some wealth given the tomb he had available, and also great risk to Nicodemus who was a Jewish priest and would not want to have been revealed as a Christian, yet they did what had to be done. Further, the depth of the Priest's evil was revealed when the soldiers told them they had seen an angle open the tomb and, in spite of that testimony and all the miracles they had seen, the Priests bribed the soldiers not to tell anyone. It is also interesting that the disciple John was at the cruxifixction and, as we discussed previously, he seemed to have no fear of being identified as a Christian and even during the Christian purges in Rome, he was only exiled to Patmos rather than executed.
