JESUS PREACHES TO HIS HOMETOWN

Jesus tells the Jews they have to eat his flesh and drink his blood but, while he is trying to tell about the spirit, they are taking it literally. As the meeting continues, he tells them in John 6:63, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing…”  but these are Jews from his hometown that watched him grow up and knew him as a child; they don’t believe he could be from heaven. In Mark 6:4 it is recorded that Jesus also told them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.”

We also discussed references to God knowing who will be saved. Does God decide who will believe? No, what would be the point designing people who believed? He does; however, know who will end up believing.
